The Use of Positron Emission Pa Rticle Tracking ( Pep T ) to 1 Study Milling of Roll - Compacted Microcystalline 2 Cellulose Ribbons 3

چکیده
13 Milling is a critical process for controlling the properties of the granules produced by roll 14 compaction. In the current study, the positron emission particle tracking (PEPT) technique was 15 used to examine the milling kinematics of roll compacted ribbons at various milling speeds. 16 Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC, Avicel PH-102) was used as the model feed material and a 17 radioactive particle (tracer) was mixed with the MCC powder and roll-compacted to form sample 18 ribbons. They were then milled using an oscillating mill at various speeds and the kinematics of 19 the ribbons (trajectory, velocity, and occupancy) were quantitatively determined using PEPT. A 20 close examination of the PEPT data reveals that, for milling MCC PH-102 ribbons using the 21 oscillating mill considered in this study, the milling speed plays an important role: at low values, 22 the milling process is dominated by cooperative motion of the ribbons with the blade (i.e. the 23 speeds of the ribbons and the blade are similar, and the ribbons move along with the blade) and 24 the ribbons are milled primarily by abrasion; as the speed increases the ribbons undergo more 25 random motion involving collisions that results in an increase in ribbon breakage and hence an 26 increase in the milling efficiency. It is shown that the PEPT technique is a useful technique for 27 examining milling kinematics of roll compacted ribbons. 28 * Corresponding author. Tel: +44 1384 683506 Fax: +44 1384 686581. TEM INVESTIGATION OF RAPIDLY SOLIDIFIED NDFEB HARD MAGNETIC MATERIAL
The surface condition and microstructure of near stoichiometric (Fe823Ndll.8B5.9) Nd-Fe-B alloy ribbons and the effect of melt spinning parameters were investigated using optical, scanning and transmission electron microscopes (SEM, TEM). The formation of gas pockets on the roll surface of the ribbons during melt spinning can prevent heat transform and result in local coarse grains. The local t...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of the Construction of Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography Facilities in Three South African Hospitals
Introduction: Development of higher energy modalities such as positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), has led to more complex shielding problems. This is due to several factors, such as the radiopharmaceutical relatively high-administered activity, high patient throughput, and high energies of 511 kilo-electron volt (keV) positron annihilation photon...

Objective(s): Considering the fact that the standardized uptake value (SUV) of a normal lung tissue is expressed as x±SD, x+3×SD could be considered as the threshold value to outline the internal tumor volume (ITV) of a lung neoplasm. Methods: Three hollow models were filled with 55.0 kBq/mL fluorine18- fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) to represent tumors. The models were fixed to a barrel filled w...
متن کاملEffect of roll compaction on granule size distribution of microcrystalline cellulose–mannitol mixtures: computational intelligence modeling and parametric analysis
Dry granulation using roll compaction is a typical unit operation for producing solid dosage forms in the pharmaceutical industry. Dry granulation is commonly used if the powder mixture is sensitive to heat and moisture and has poor flow properties. The output of roll compaction is compacted ribbons that exhibit different properties based on the adjusted process parameters. These ribbons are th...
